TORCH IgM Package

A package designed to detect recent viral or parasitic infections that may be transmitted from mother to fetus during pregnancy. It includes tests for Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), and Cytomegalovirus (CMV). These tests help in the early detection of active infections, allowing timely medical intervention to reduce risks to the baby’s health. Difference between IgM and IgG: • IgM: Indicates a recent or active infection, meaning the infection occurred recently and may pose an immediate risk to the fetus. • IgG: Indicates a past infection or acquired immunity, meaning the body was exposed to the infection in the past or gained immunity through vaccination, and the current risk to the fetus is usually low.

Package Contains

IgM antibodies are the only class produced by an unborn baby. When Toxoplasma IgM antibodies are present in a newborn, they indicate a congenital infection. If the molecular test is positive for T. gondii DNA, then the person tested has an active toxoplasmosis infection.

Rubella Antibody (IgM) - Rubella is an acute exanthematous viral infection of children and adults. Rash, fever and lymphadenopathy characterize the illness. While many infections are subclinical, this virus has the potential to cause fetal infection with resultant birth defects.

A herpes IgM test is a blood test that can detect early herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. This test does not detect herpes directly. Instead, it looks for IgM, a type of antibody that can be produced in response to a herpes infection.

CMV is a viral genus that belongs to the group of herpesviruses. Its presence is distributed in all geographical areas and affects all age groups. The diseases it causes can be fatal. As indicated by the name, the virus enlarges the infected cell, giving it its distinctive shape.
